How it all started…
In December 2003, Fred wanted to spend Christmas with his family in Vendée. Without a car and with trains fully booked, he relied on his sister, who made a detour to pick him up.
Along the journey, he was struck by the number of drivers alone in their cars and imagined a network to make better use of those empty seats.
Twenty years later, Fred, Francis, Nicolas, and the BlaBlaCar teams have turned that simple idea into the world’s leading carpooling platform, connecting millions of travelers across the globe.
